Gabriel
I’ve taught IB MYP Mathematics for eight years, mostly working with students who understand the lesson in class but get stuck when a question is phrased differently. Algebra and functions are the areas I enjoy most. In lessons, I normally start with one worked example, then let the student take over while I spot where their reasoning changes. I also spend plenty of time on investigation-style questions and calculator use.

Emily
Hi, I’m a science tutor with a background in biological sciences and five years of experience teaching IB MYP Biology. I’m especially fond of genetics and cell biology, although ecology usually produces the best discussions. My sessions are fairly relaxed: we sketch processes, talk through unfamiliar terms, then tackle questions. I also help students get better at writing conclusions from data rather than simply describing a graph.

Alyssa
Chemistry makes much more sense once students can picture what is happening rather than just memorising equations. I’ve been tutoring IB MYP Chemistry for six years and particularly enjoy atomic structure, bonding and acids. I tend to use quick diagrams and short practice problems during lessons. For assessments, we look closely at command terms and I show students how to explain their working without writing far more than the question needs.

Jonathan
I came into tutoring after working in engineering, so I probably teach IB MYP Physics a little differently. I like using everyday examples before bringing in the formula, especially for forces, energy and electricity. I’ve worked with MYP students for four years, both one-to-one and in small groups. Most sessions include a few numerical problems, but I also make students explain what an answer means because that is often where misunderstandings show up.

Christian
I’ve worked with IB MYP English students for nearly a decade and still enjoy the variety of texts they bring to lessons. My favourite sessions involve short stories because there is plenty to discuss without spending half the lesson reading. I help with close analysis, essay structure and making arguments more precise. I’m quite particular about students using evidence well, so we often take one quotation and practise doing more with it rather than adding five others.

Sydney
Geography has been my subject since university, and I’ve spent the last seven years teaching IB MYP students. Human geography is my main interest, particularly migration and changing cities, but I’m equally happy working through ecosystems and hazards. I use maps, case studies and plenty of source questions in lessons. With assessments, I focus on turning factual knowledge into a clear response that actually addresses the command term.

Ebony
I spent seven years teaching Physics before moving into full-time online tutoring. Most of my IB MYP work is with students who understand the theory but get stuck when a question puts it into a new situation. I’m particularly fond of forces, circuits and energy. Lessons usually involve drawing the problem first, deciding what information matters, then working through the mathematics without rushing straight to a formula.

Natasha
Hi! I’m an IB MYP Maths tutor and former software analyst, so I naturally bring quite a lot of logic and problem-solving into lessons. I’ve been tutoring for four years and mostly work with students aged 12–16. Functions and coordinate geometry are probably my favourite areas. I use a digital whiteboard for working through questions together, and I’ll often ask students to explain a solution back to me in their own words.
